Batteries
Is life as we know it possible without batteries? The odds are good that if you really think about it, there is little that does not run on one form of battery or another. Batteries – quite literally – make the world go round for the majority of people on the planet, and it is therefore not quit surprising that so much rides on this little invention that made it debut in the year 1800. While there are a large number of technical aspects that involve this change over of chemical energy to electrical energy, suffice it to say that for the end-user what matters is the answer to the question if a battery is disposable or if it is rechargeable. PDA batteries are oftentimes rechargeable, but some also run on disposable batteries. For those users who have come across the inevitable situation of discharged batteries, it is a lesson in futility to eke out the last bit of juice when attempting to retrieve a phone number from the address book, or when trying to send off an email. To this end, most PDA batteries are rechargeable. This not only permits for anticipation of the battery discharge and the ability to reverse the chemical processes but it will also prevent the PDA user from having to go without access to their gadget for any period of time. |

Batteries for PDAs vary in kind. There is the Li ion battery for PDAs which is able to store up a high charge and thus permits the user to access data and operate the device for a longer period of time. Oftentimes they are a bit bigger and some feel that the PDA cover for a larger battery is a bit unsightly. More commonly used as a PDA battery today is the Lithium ion polymer battery which works just as well as the Li ion battery, but is much smaller and may even be odd shaped, so as to accommodate the size and shape of the PDA that will house it. When it comes to purchasing an additional battery for your PDA, remember that batteries need to be coded for use in PDAs and in order to ensure a proper fit you will want to read the documentation of your little gadget. Failure to do so may result in your hooking up your device to a battery that is inappropriate for the use which in turn might not only damage your PDA but may also lead to a loss of data and memory.
