Nokia
Does Nokia make a PDA? In a day and age where it appears that any electronics manufacturers tries to cash in on the popularity of these little handheld devices, it is not surprising that many consumers wonder if their prime cell phone manufacturer would also go ahead and become their PDA provider. Yet the Finnish company Nokia is no fool, and recognized early on that to make it in the competitive electronics market they would have had to provide something a little extra to keep up with the industry giants and also to generate the kind of public interest needed to ensure that their company would not go belly up in world of discontinued models, defunct companies, and less than profitable buy-outs and spin-offs. Nokia found the perfect outlet for their creativity and innovation to be an internet tablet. Combining the best of both worlds - Nokia products, and handheld technology, and PDA capabilities, and wire free access – Nokia unveiled the “Nokia 770 Internet Tablet” which permits for wireless access to the Internet, a mode of checking email from anywhere, the ability to listen to Internet broadcasts, and also the much coveted ability to surf the web quickly from anywhere. The connectivity of this Nokia PDA is the much coveted Bluetooth, and for those who really wonder about the nitty gritty of the Nokia OS PDA, there is the Linux based operating system and of course the flagships of this PDA: the touch screen input panel and the 800 x 480 resolution display that makes eye strain a thing of the past. |

As a new PDA accessory, Nokia added GPS to the package the following year, making it an effective Nokia PDA GPS receiver with which you will be able to run Navicore software. Unfortunately, Nokia has not been able to satisfy everyone involved, and subsequently a number of critics have come forward who were unhappy with both the speed of the unit as well as the battery life that – by any measurement – is a tad short. While some critics sought to treat the device like your average PDA, Nokia was quick to point out that the PDA functions were an additional bonus, while the wireless Internet access is the prime function of this little mobile unit. Only time will tell if the system will continue to enjoy the popularity it gained in Europe or if it will be one of those gadgets that fails to catch on.
