Themes
Themes for computers are an old hat. What made them so popular in the first case is the fact that a computer user was able to truly make a desktop computer so much more personable, simply by changing the look and the feel of the display. While the user was still at work and doing the boss’ bidding, she or he had that little bit of control over life that was evident in the themes that could be chosen. For those with a love for nature, there wee several pictures that could be chosen that could either display a lovely pond, a leafy fall day, or a warm beach scene. Additionally, the user was then able to also adjust the colors on the screen to personalize the experience ever further. In some areas of “computer-speak” these themes are referred to as “skins” and as such they serve to add a user’s sense of aesthetics to the computing experience.

While the changing of themes – and even the availability of themes for downloads - is not a new concept, PDA themes are a relatively new invention; perhaps it is the fact that free PDA themes are available everywhere on the Internet or maybe the idea of truly changing the image of a device this small is finally catching on, no matter what the reason for the popularity of PDA themes today, PDA theme downloads are at an all-time high.

Of course, as time marched on for the skins used on desktop computers, the same might be said for the PDA theme. More and more outlandish scenes and pictures are becoming available to provide the backdrop of the displays, and many users have found that free PDA fantasy themes are the best way of not only adding personality but even a bit of a fashion statement to their PDAs. There is, of course, a bit of a downside to the application of different themes to a PDA; depending on the intricacy of the picture and the color scheme that goes with it, the actual display of icons and information may be hard to discern. Add to this the fact that a change in the mode of display – such as it is often indicated when a theme is added or altered – will also change the way your screen looks, you may run into a bit of a hard time should you require technical phone support for your gadget, and the person on the other end is trying to walk you through the steps you should take based on what she or he thinks you should be seeing. If you altered your PDA display enough, this might become a rather big problem.
